Christmas in San Francisco - what a lovely place to be! As the owner of Blake Charles Salon located right in the heart of this beautiful city, I am fortunate enough to experience the magic of the holidays in one of San Francisco’s most vibrant and festive areas. It truly comes alive this time of year, especially around Union Square and the surrounding neighborhoods. I’m excited to share some of my favorite holiday activities that make the season special for me and my family.

Set yourself up for a successful seasonal spree around the city with a fresh haircolor, a stylish haircut, and the following list of must-dos:

Winter Walk in Union Square

Union Square is always a bustling delight, but during the holidays it transforms into an unbelievable festive wonderland. The Winter Walk is a pedestrian-friendly promenade filled with holiday lights, pop-up vendors, and live entertainment. It’s the perfect place to do some window shopping while soaking up holiday cheer in a lively atmosphere.

The Macy’s Tree and Ice Skating in Union Square

The iconic Macy’s Tree in Union Square is one of the city’s most dazzling holiday sights. Sparkling lights combined with glittering ornaments create a picture-perfect holiday scene. Adjacent to the tree, you’ll find an ice skating rink that offers a wholesome and nostalgic activity for the whole family. Even when I skip the skating, I love observing as people glide by under the glow of the tree. Spend your day being pampered at the salon, and then find your way to the Macy’s Tree—you might be able to convince yourself you’re starring in a TV Christmas special.

Castles and Sweet Memories

One of San Francisco’s most enchanting holiday traditions is a visit to the Sugar Castle at the Westin St. Francis. Enjoy the breathtaking display paired with their Breakfast with Santa event—a surefire hit with the kids!

Don’t forget to stop by the Gingerbread House at the Fairmont on Nob Hill. Stepping into the Fairmont feels like entering a holiday fairytale, the scent of gingerbread wafting through the air, and the stunning castle on display. It’s a festive and whimsical experience for both kids and adults.

The Nutcracker by the San Francisco Ballet

A holiday staple, the San Francisco Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” is a family favorite. The breathtaking performances backed by enchanting music create a magical experience that captures the spirit of the season, and it’s a tradition I look forward to each year.

Brunch or Afternoon Tea at the Palace Hotel

The historic Palace Hotel is a must-visit during the holidays. Take in the elegant decor and festive ambiance while enjoying a cozy brunch. A luxurious afternoon tea is the perfect setting to show off your brand-new hair color while escaping from the holiday bustle in this serene locale.

Enjoy The Magic of A San Francisco Christmas

The holidays truly are a magical time in San Francisco, and I’m so lucky to have these incredible experiences just steps away from Blake Charles Salon.
